 We see and use our garage door each day every day several times per day and rarely stop to think about this great invention. Most of the time we take our garage doors for granted without even realizing how much difficult our life would be without garage door to “protect” us, our homes and our cars. In fact the only time we stop and actually think about our garage doors is when the same are broken or are giving us hard time or just refuse to go up and down when we want them to. Well this is not fair and this is why we have decided to write a small post dedicated entirely to our garage doors.

First garage door ever

The first concept or idea of garage doors dates way back to the years 450 BC. During this period people still were far from inventing a motor vehicle but what they did invent were the chariots and gatehouses that were used to store the chariots. These gatehouses can be considered as the first prototypes of the modern garages. The first modern examples of the garage doors, somewhat similar to nowadays garage doors have appeared in United States at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Garage doors are made up of so many parts that it is almost impossible to identify and count all of them. According to rough estimates there are over three hundred smaller and bigger elements within a standard garage doors.
